Our artist Monopolar releases a new EP on New York-based label Soundselective. Out on vinyl and digital download from June 30, it offers an outstanding package with 2 techno solid tracks that take you onto a journey to South America, Mexico to be exact.

Jalapacalima is a somewhat minimal percussive track with an definite underground feel. Acoustic rhythmic elements roll under hypnotic synths and noises, while bass and a dirty guitar inject a vague touch of indie recording.
The result is a great hybrid techno track that litterally rocks the floor.
Be just half-fooled by the title, because Happy New Jackie delivers solid tecno funk-ness.
Cool chords hook & vocal samples unfold throughout the track building an amazing tension. Funky elements are used in a very hypnotic way, resulting in a true peak-time bomb.
Remix work is offered by Milly De Mori, and UK duo Landed.
Milly takes Happy New Jackie to a tech-house underground level, with a clever use of the original elements and a re-work of the vocals offering a splendid darker and more percussive mix.
Landed ripps Jalapacalima apart and delivers a very original version with an amazing deep spooky vibe. This hypnotic and dirty techno mix is not to be missed!

Jalapacalima EP is the second EP for SoundSelective Records, adding more sophisticated and interesting underground tunes to their catalogue.

Mexican-Peruvian-Colombian duo Monopolar – coming from respective techno and avant-jazz backgrounds – enjoy an online production relationship with Mono DJing in Bogota and Polar based in Mexico City [achoo!] and Berlin, both intent on highlighting their Latin American musical heritage. ‘La Bouche’ is a deep, swirling Latin-tech-house groover laced with electronic grumbles and heaving organ. Their ‘L’Autre Bouche’ strips down to a slow-burning hypno-throb while the mix by Nicone – Berlin’s Alexander Gerlach and Sascha Braemer – take the dismembodied minimal route. Unusual and electric.
